Four men have been arrested following the Patriotic Alternative-linked protest in Blairgowrie that Searchlight reported earlier this week.
The men, aged 33, 44, 48 and 58, have been charged with threatening and abusive behaviour and referred to the Procurator Fiscal. They are due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today.
Mistaken belief
The arrests follow the demonstration on 2 May, when around 25 activists from Aberdeen Against Illegal Migration, Dundee Patriots and Perth’s Peaceful Protest descended on the Perthshire town under the mistaken belief that First Minister John Swinney lived there.
Swinney’s constituency is Perthshire North, but he does not reside in Blairgowrie.

As we reported, a Patriotic Alternative flag was draped over the Blairgowrie and Rattray War Memorial at Wellmeadow during the protest.
Bitter irony
Swinney described himself as “sickened” by the desecration, noting the bitter irony of self-styled patriots honouring a neo-Nazi organisation on a memorial to soldiers who died fighting fascism.
Police had to intervene after locals were subjected to abuse, including misogynistic harassment directed at anti-racist counter-demonstrators.
