The story of a garden seat

This elderly customer had this ‘find’ while clearing an overgrown garden that had been transferred to him for his use. The slats were rotten, spongy with fungus and crumbled with touch. Nevertheless, he wanted this restored as it reminded him of his youth in the 1950s.

Without exception, my customers have always exclaimed ‘wow!’ when these items have been returned.

An example of how far restoration can go. The fixings are marine grade. Mahogany slats were used at the insistence of the customer who found this valuable mahogany in a skip. — The two-tone woodwork is because the customer wanted to re-use an old Mahogany handrail
