Restore Britain spokesman Charlie Downes was detained at the US-Canada border while travelling to speak at a nationalist conference in Ontario.

Charlie Downes, the campaigns director and spokesman for Restore Britain, has been detained at the US-Canada border while travelling to address a far-right conference in Ontario.

The Dominion Society, which is hosting the event, said yesterday that Downes had been detained while travelling to its DomCon26 conference in the Hamilton area.

The organisation said his Canadian electronic travel authorisation had been “reopened” shortly before his journey.

First conference

Downes was due to appear alongside Austrian far-right activist Martin Sellner, founder of the Remigration Institute, at the Dominion Society’s first national conference.

A number of Restore speakers featured alongside Sellner at the Remigration Summit (Resum) in Portugal in June, replacing the fascist Homeland Party who had previously represented the UK.

The Dominion organisers describe this weekend’s event as “Canada’s Premier Nationalist Conference”, bringing together activists campaigning around immigration, national identity and demographic change.

In Restore’s present internal row Downes has become particularly associated with the ethnonationalist tendency, and is strongly supported by the nazi faction of Steve Laws, Sam Wilkes and Cal Barker..

The Dominion Society promotes “remigration” alongside a prolonged immigration moratorium and measures to reverse aspects of multiculturalism.

The Canadian Anti-Hate Network has described it as a white-nationalist organisation with a mass-deportation agenda.
