Reform UK has suspended one of its newly elected Sheffield councillors after a string of deleted social media posts revealed a pattern of neo-Nazi sympathy, white supremacist imagery and antisemitism.
Nathaniel Menday won the Woodhouse ward seat in the 1 May local elections by over a thousand votes, only for the Sheffield Star to uncover posts from his now-deleted X account showing him displaying a swastika flag and sharing far-right iconography including the Sonnenrad, or “sun wheel”.
Subhuman underclass
Further posts showed nazi flags, praised eugenics and declared that “a dictatorship with the right man in charge will always be a better way of governing than democracy”.
On returning to Britain from a European trip, he described British people as “fatter, uglier and poorly dressed” compared to continental Europeans, adding: “On top of this we have a disgusting, almost subhuman underclass of people bringing the place down.”

The antisemitic content is equally explicit. Menday had made multiple antisemitic comments, including suggesting that Jewish people in the West were responsible for the antisemitism directed at them because they “overwhelmingly favour open borders”.
He had also called the Nazis “real visionaries”, a remark first exposed during the election campaign by The Times.
Vague promise
None of this was enough to stop the party fielding him in the election . When the Yorkshire Post raised the earlier revelations with deputy leader Richard Tice, his response was a breezy “we’re all human”, with a vague promise that decisions would be made if Menday was elected.
Reform confirmed the suspension on 13 May, stating Menday had “failed to declare social media posts which have brought the party into disrepute”.
Absolute joke
Labour councillor Minesh Parekh has written to Sheffield City Council’s audit and standards committee seeking a code of conduct investigation.
“That he was able to be elected as a Reform UK councillor shows their vetting processes to be an absolute joke,” Parekh said, “and raises concerns about how many racists or fascists they have snuck into office last week.”
